With an attendance of 300 guests, the 14th Annual Derby Day Party: A Silks & Irons Soiree was one to remember. Guests enjoyed a live, large-screen broadcast of the 139th running of the Kentucky Derby, live turf horse races, a ladies’ hat contests, amazing food and fresh mint juleps. Another highlight of the evening was our Iron Chef Competition judged by Chef Patrick Evans-Hylton. Chef Eric Doarnberger of Atlantic Shores Retirement and Living, and Chef Brian Bland of The Chesapeake Bay Catering Co., battled away while Evans-Hylton critiqued each dish and named Chef Doarnberger as the winner. Local restaurants including Blue Pete’s, Judy’s Sichuan Cuisine, Il Giordano, Eagle’s Nest , Just Cupcakes and Lola’s Caribbean Restaurant made up Derby Row, offering guests fine food from around the world. Those who wanted to tempt Lady Luck,, visited the casino area for professionally dealt hands of Black Jack., Live music by The Deloreans and a packed dance floor capped the spectacular evening.
